In short, it should be mostly working on the GPU.  Anyone else able to test this
on their system?

The 3d board uses OpenGL, I'm guessing that on your system the rendering is
being moved from the hardware (gpu) to the software (cpu), probably because the
driver for your graphics card can't handle the calls used.  Which OS are you 
using?
