Actually there should be a warning during ./configure that gtkglext 
is missing.

Do you also have no designs available in the setp menu? I experienced
the same problem on a SuSE-10.1 but didn't look at it. I guess there is
something wrong with the path settings, but I didn't look at it because
in the past weeks I used gnubg only for training and analysing.
