Could anyone please explain how to download and install gnubg for fedora core 3? I've recently switched to fedora linux from windows

Good choice!

and following the instructions on gnubg site, gnubg will show the
flash screen then disapear. Would really appreciate anyone's help as
I absolutely love gnubg and am lost without it.

How did you install? Didi you use the rpms or did you compile from source.

The best and coolest is to use the cvs to get latest sources. You will
then have the bleeding edge in the development.

Open a terminal window and type:

export CVSROOT=:ext:address@hidden:/cvsroot/gnubg
export CVS_RSH=ssh
cvs -z3 checkout gnubg

[wait]

You should now have a folder called gnubg in your home directory. cd
down to this directory:

cd gnubg

I'm not sure if you need autoconf and automake here? Achim?

./configure
make

Hopefully that will build your GNU Backgammon for Linux. You can install
it by changing to root user and type:

make install

The weights files? Is the latest weights file uploaded to alpha.gnu.org?
No! I don't think it is? I'll supply with a weights file when you get
there. Jørn? Can you upload the latest weights file, please?
