ftgl-2.07.1, installed from the freebsd ports collection (sort of like
RPMs, although a bit more organised in my opinion). It fetches source
tarballs and applies patches to put things in standard environments
for a FreeBSD setup, including things like ensuring paths and
installation directories are consistent. Just as a test, I'm cvsuping
the current ports tree and re-installing libftgl to check that the
current port does things correctly (the ealier one failed to install
the .pc file, although it had generated it and the port maintainer
tells me he's fixed that.

I can't reinstall, as someones updated to 2.09, which requires tk.8.4
and that port is currently badly broken.

Hmm - yes and no. configure read the package config and built the test
program, but the cflags weren't then added to board3d/Makefile.

So the configure test works correctly, but the Makefile assumes that
the include files are in one of the top level include directories (and
the cpp file assumes that they are referenced as FTGL/filename
