Does Win2k have limits on the amount of RAM an individual program is
allowed to use? It sounds like gnubg is swapping memory out to
disk. I don't know enough about Windows OSes to know if you need to
tell it how much RAM or disc space a program is allowed to use -
certainly such limits are available and often used in Unix.

There are no limits with win2k on RAM usage per process (and I don't think you can set any). Windows won't start swapping until all the RAM is used up - this isn't likely to happen with gnubg as the memory usage is quite low and reasonably constant.

Ned, have you tried not using the large bearoff db's to see if this makes any difference?

Jon
