That is exactly what is seen on my PC when I choose Japanese.
I thought it was because I am running a Dutch Windows, so there is no 
support for Japanese characters.

I suppose you generated a ja.gmo file yourself?
And if that one functions fine on your PC, maybe you can mail it to 
me? (personal mail, not gnub list)

If anyone knows what possible could be wrong, please tell?
