Could you shed some light on this anyway? See below.

Yippee, it runs!
fiesta (.../hb/gnubg): ldd /home/pub/lib/gnubg-030103/bin/gnubg
...
libxml2.so.2 => /home/c/curlbbcb/lib/libxml2.so.2
...
fiesta (.../hb/gnubg): l /home/c/curlbbcb/lib/libxml2.so.2
lrwxrwxrwx 1 50 Jan 3 20:13 /home/c/curlbbcb/lib/libxml2.so.2 ->
/home/pub/lib/libxml2-2.4.30/lib/libxml2.so.2.4.30
Ahem, but... I don't want to spoil the mood ;-)
Firstly, there are some assertions. I didn't notice the output right away,
so I don't know when exactly it appeared. But I think I was selecting a
predefined appearance then. In general I went through the entire Settings menu
first.
(gnubg:11813): Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkwidget.c: line 2004: assertion
`GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed
And sadly, while playing I got a core dump. I'll attach the terminal and gdb
output.
One more small thing: The chequers flicker quite a lot when the computer
moves. On my Windows machine this doesn't happen.

Holger
