[Bug-gnubg] Obscure crash

Hi,

I've had problems with the latest versions after about Dec 4, but couldn't
give any possible cause. (Win95)

Most often than not I couldn't start GNUbg, it just crashed at the start.
However, I think that sometimes it did work. But maybe it was an older
version that I than started directly (by double clicking).

Some days ago I still thought that my system could be corrupted and
therefore be the fault. But now I suspect it to be the other way around -
that after GNUbg crashed my system becomes instable. Out of the blue
programs running in the background suddenly crash. For instance, I'm
writing mail with Eudora and have some other programs open. Then, without
touching it one (or more) of these crashes with the typical useless MS
error message.

After trying a few things I've noticed that without bearoff-dbs GNUbg
doesn't crash at least. As mentioned in another post I've also noticed that
the md5 checksums of my bearoff databases don't coincide with the ones
posted by Joern (in spite of generating with -f). The next thing is that I
have gnubg_ts0.bd, gnubg_os0.bd and gnubg.bd. I'm not sure if the last one
is still used.
With gnubg_ts0.bd and gnubg_os0.bd (without gnubg.bd) it neither crashes.
But I still have the impression that my system gets instable afterwards.
This would hint for a memory leak.?

I realize that this sounds a bit vague and my description is not too
specific. But I'm willing to give any information that could be helpful.
Please, just ask.

Regards and Merry Christmas,

        Holger
