Thank you very much for the bug report.

The problem is with the installation of CFITSIO on the system: the libraries and headers have different versions. This usually happens when the operating system package manager separates headers and library binaries, or when there are multiple versions of CFITSIO installed and the header and library search paths point to the different versions.

To fix the problem, if it is possible, I would recommend a clean uninstall of all existing versions of CFITSIO: from the package manager if it was installed through it, or manually from the files it was installed in by tar-ball installtion. Afterwards, a clean re-install should fix the problem.

If a clean uninstall/reinstall is no possible, you can modify the library and header search paths as described in the "Installation directory" section of the Gnuastro book:
