Yes, I'll track down any other "porting" issues and pass them along. I think
that support for the most part is just a matter of testing which I can do
for the Sun 4.x environment.

I disagree with this advice.  The current gawk always has more bug
fixes and often performs better than old versions. 3.0.2 had a major
memory leak in it; it's a bad choice.

If I can support SunOS 4.x I will; it sounds like it's not a lot of
work.

Stephen, drop me a note separately if you're willing to test prerealeases
under SunOS.
