Yes, a program to split the file over several Media volumes would be a
good thing. Either way would make me happy. The change to TAR seemed to
be the easiest and quickest solution ( I haven't read the code so I don't
know). I can also see a lot of potential in a program that can split a
large file across multiple media volumes, or multiple files.
I look forward to either or both solutions. Thanks for listening to my
suggestion.
