tar-1.13 bug?

Hello,
        tar v1.13 can't seem to access a remote tape drive.  It
        says "sh: unknown host".  The previous versions, v1.12 &
        v.1.11.2, worked fine.  ???

        I did the standard "./configure" and then "make" to build.

stone:/home/tmp/quoc/tar-1.13 ] src/tar cvf ruby:/dev/rmt/0 .
sh: unknown host
src/tar: Cannot open ruby:/dev/rmt/0: I/O error
src/tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
stone:/home/tmp/quoc/tar-1.13 ] 

        I want to use this version for large file support.
