It appears that the variable's name is actually "N°", that is,
the second character is U+00B0, the "degree" symbol. PSPP
doesn't treat this as a valid character in a variable name. If
SPSS does, though, then PSPP should also.
Alternatively, this file doesn't have any indication of its
encoding, so it could be some other character. For example, in
ISO 8859-5, the variable's name is just "nA".
I wonder how SPSS treats this file?
