Thank you for your bug report.  The 0.4.* series is known to have
problems when running on 64 bit machines.  I suggest that you try the
prerelease version at
ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/pspp/pspp-0.6.0-pre1.tar.gz 

If this doesn't fix your problem, then please let us know.
