Follow-up Comment #2, bug #17239 (project pspp):
This is now almost complete.
The only outstanding issue, is that when the active file is split and the
split variable has discontiguous values, they are not treated as
discontiguous like they should be.
Leaving this bug open to remind us to fix this.
