libiconv/libcharset/Makefile.in target 'distdir' references $(srcdir).
Is
  srcdir = .
the right setting? Or should it be
  srcdir = ..
?

Isn't this code part of libiconv? I'm not sure why you're asking me! Again, as usual, sorry if I've misunderstood something.
