Hi,

Seems I found the solution myself. The iconv utility that comes builtin with Mac OS X has support for UTF-8-MAC, which is the one I must use instead of the standard UTF-8. I do not know the difference between them but it works when changing the from encoding to UTF-8-MAC. Does anyone know whether there is a compile option to include this in the iconv build or is it an encoding that Apple has added later and as such is not available in the GNU distribution?

Hopefully this will help others who run into the same issue.

I compiled and installed the latest 1.13.1 but little did it help. I though both Mac OS X and Linux used the same UTF-8 encoding in filenames and directory names from which I derive my meta data.

I am out of ideas and hoping that someone might be able to give me a clue on what might be wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
