Hi, Seems I found the solution myself. The iconv utility that comes builtin with Mac OS X has support for UTF-8-MAC, which is the one I must use instead of the standard UTF-8. I do not know the difference between them but it works when changing the from encoding to UTF-8-MAC. Does anyone know whether there is a compile option to include this in the iconv build or is it an encoding that Apple has added later and as such is not available in the GNU distribution? Hopefully this will help others who run into the same issue. Mario Gazzo On 16/11/2009, at 00.54, Mario Gazzo wrote:
