I had to apply the patches "by hand" instead of with "git am" because "git am" complained: --- Nonempty second line in commit message Commit aborted; please see the file CONTRIBUTE --- I'm not quite sure what that refers to -- the second line looked pretty empty to me (except some spaces). But even removing those spaces didn't help.
