Thanks; with the following I'm able to reproduce the problem in Emacs
27.2:
#!/bin/bash
delim=$(numseq-delim "$2")
delim=$( numseq-delim "$2")
But not in Emacs 29, so it has been fixed now, and I'm therefore closing
this bug report.
