(I'm going through old bug reports that unfortunately got little response at
the time.)
I tried reproducing this in the oldest Emacs I have (Emacs 25.1), but
was unable to (after following the recipe, point was at the beginning of
the line), but perhaps I'm misunderstanding what the bug is.
Are you still seeing an issue here in more recent versions of Emacs?
