After 48 hours of 100% CPU, Emacs finally returns from read_char.
Rather than wait 48 more hours for the next read_char, I disabled
breakpoints, tried

        (lldb) print (long)Fgoto_char((long)Fpoint_min())
        (long) $12 = 6
        (lldb) continue

and was able to kill the buffer manually.  Thanks, Eli!


P.S.  Could a watchdog timer safely abort such wedgitude?
Reading a file is not the only way to lose here.
