Instead of blocks users can set it up "human readable" with ls -alh
option or similar:

dired-listing-switches is a variable defined in ‘dired.el’.
Its value is "-gohl --group-directories-first"
Original value was "-al"

  You can customize this variable.

Then there is more practical display:

  total used in directory 1.4G available 24.8 GiB
