I don't think this bug can occur in the latest Emacs since it uses xpalloc which should do the right thing in this case. Could you please double-check by trying the latest Emacs pretest? Thanks. http://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/pretest/emacs-24.0.90.tar.gz
