Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Hi,

When entering a regexp for query-replace-regexp, the parser seems to
be confused with "unbalanced parentheses".  Type in `[^)]' for
instance, and see it complain about the paren.
