during the ftp access to any server, editing the file and saving, there is 
continuance:


C-x C-s:
keyboard macro terminated by a command ringing the bell

C-x C-s:
(no changes need to be saved)

(second change)
C-x C-s:
<<file>> changed on disk ;realy edit the buffer (y, n, ..)

y
file on disk now will become a backup file if you save the these changes

(another change)
C-x C-s
<<file>> has changed since visited or saved. Save anyway?

yes
