    I notice that gnus does not redraw the screen often enough in this new
    version of emacs.  Previously when I switched away to a different
    virtual X screen or to a <ctrl>-<alt> f1 virtual terminal, and came back
    while running gnus (and pressing "o" to save various process-marked
    articles), the display would be redrawn fairly quickly.

This is a very vague description of the scenario, and as a result
it would be difficult even to try to investigate it.  Could you possibly
send a precise description of what someone should do so as to observe this
problem?  The Bugs section of the Emacs manual gives advice about how
to do this.
