monthly diary entry problem

From: Robert Marshall
Subject: monthly diary entry problem
Date: Mon, 12 Nov 2001 10:02:56 +0000

In GNU Emacs 21.1.1 (i386-msvc-windows98.2222)
 of 2001-10-29 on SWC-MAN-L004
configured using `configure --with-msvc (12.00)'
Important settings:
  value of $LC_ALL: nil
  value of $LC_COLLATE: nil
  value of $LC_CTYPE: nil
  value of $LC_MESSAGES: nil
  value of $LC_MONETARY: nil
  value of $LC_NUMERIC: nil
  value of $LC_TIME: nil
  value of $LANG: eng
  locale-coding-system: iso-latin-1
  default-enable-multibyte-characters: t

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

(I sent a report about this in the pretest but I forgot that I was
running emacs -q so my return email was incorrect and it may not have
got there... and as the problem still exists in 21.1, I'm re-reporting it)

With the following settings
(setq mark-diary-entries-in-calendar t)
(setq european-calendar-style t)

M-x calendar
and add a monthly entry to the diary (i m)

Then exit calendar and rerun it and the date with the monthly entry is
not highlighted. You need to change the diary entry to US form for the
calendar highlighting (and M-x diary) to find the entry

So a diary file containing
* 10 euro style
11 * US style

will highlight 11 when european-calendar-style is set to t in spite of
insert-monthly-diary-entry carefully inverting the order
