I just tried this again with twm instead of mwm, and after
the resize, the results were even stranger - the menu appeared
in a totally random place instead of where it last popped
up. Again, moving the window fixed it.

I'd note that other Motif applications on the same machine
using the same Motif libraries do not exhibit this behavior :-).
