I'm not sure, but Gerd, note that Debian's had to have some patches
for IA64, ppc, and mipsel. I don't know if these could be causing
trouble, but they are Debian specific modifications. I went through
the old emacs20 patch by hand and incorporated the bits that looked
correct and deleted many that were not (or were obsolete), but I
certainly may have made a mistake.
I was planning to send the current Debian diff (minus the Debian
specific files) to bug-gnu-emacs soon, but I can send you a copy
sooner if you would like.
