The format of a Windows shortcut file is well known; you can easily
find it on the net (sorry, I don't have a URL handy).

You don't need MFC calls to recognize a shortcut. It is easily
recognizable.

Editing a shortcut might be a useful feature, but that's not what Jari
was suggesting.
