It seems that overwrite-mode is unaware of the width of Chinese
characters.
Starting with
住所鏡頭 ㄒㄒㄒㄒ 2222 222
住所鏡頭 ㄒㄒㄒㄒ 2222 222
overwrite the first 4 Chinese characters with spaces. One gets:
ㄒㄒㄒㄒ 2222 222
住所鏡頭 ㄒㄒㄒㄒ 2222 222
instead of
ㄒㄒㄒㄒ 2222 222
住所鏡頭 ㄒㄒㄒㄒ 2222 222
