Emacs 20.7.1: tex-dvi-view-command

Dear Sirs,

I installed Emacs 20.7.1 in aWindows 98 plataform and I was trying to
customize the tex-mode to view dvi files with yap. I put (setq
tex-dvi-view-command "yap") in the .emacs file, but when I give the
command tex-view it outputs the line
yap file.dvi&
appending this extra "&" character that causes yap not to recognize the
file.

Can you help me to get around this problem?
