Less shows "END" on the last page, which you wanted to avoid.  Less
also cheats: when you see the first screenful of text, it computes the
percentage as if there were 1 line above the screen, whereas in
reality there's zero lines.

So Less is not such a good example to follow, unless you are willing
to settle for any random number instead of the current "Top" and
"Bot".

But let's leave Less alone: I wanted to know what would _you_ want to
see instead of "Top" and "Bot"?

Then there's nothing to fix: I hereby declare that "Top" and "Bot" are
the percentage of days till Christmas, albeit in ancient Mayan units,
because percents are not appropriate for the first and the last
screenful.
