'Dan important comment': OK, I set the above variable, I'm in dired
[not especially important], I hit 'f' on a read-only file.  Indeed
there I am in view mode, everything's hunky-dory. Then when I hit q,
one would expect, as in normal view mode, the file would kindly go
away from emacs. However, indeed, I am now still there, view mode is
gone and we're back in fundamental mode.  What good could that be.
OK, found a bug, GNU Emacs20.7...

Gosh, view-mode already has "e" that does the same in the first place.
