Please tell exactly what keys on your keyboard did you press for that
keystroke, and what code it was supposed to generate.  Your message
didn't have the charset= header, and email is not a reliable medium to
send 8-bit data anyway, so I'm not sure I even understand the
situation.

Also, the information about your language environment and keyboard and
display coding systems would help a lot to analyse this.  Please send
the contents of the buffer produced by "M-x mule-diag RET" in a
session invoked with the same command-line switches as the session
where you saw the above.
