I'm fairly sure the program has a good grasp of castling rules
in version 5, can you easily see the conversation between the
interface and the engine on Apples? As it is possible the
interface isn't passing the full castling information, or it was
misread for some reason.

Do you know what version of GNU Chess Apple are distributing?
Current is 5.05.

Do you have the game score?

 Thanks for reporting it, but I need more detail to investigate
it.

 Simon, keen to know more about Apples offering.
