Hi Simon,

thanks for your quick reply.

Currently I don't use CVS.

If next release is close (let's say one week) I may wait, otherwise I'ld like to have a patch, if possible.

Another question (off topic).

When I compiled book.dat with gnuchess 5.02, it took 2 days. With gnuchess 5.04, a few minutes. What changed? Same differences of speed on gaming?

Thanks,

Tonino

Thanks Antonio,

I think this is a problem already identified with 5.04 and fixed
in the current CVS head (I can't reproduce in the current CVS
head). The problem was due to an incorrect earlier fix to a line
length problem that restricted the length of most lines to 64
bytes.

You should be able to demonstrate this with an EPD file which is
slightly shorter, that should work, say;

rnbqk3/pppppppp/8/8/8/8/PPPPPPPP/RNBQKBNR w KQkq - bm 1; id 1;

It will be fixed in the next release. The CVS repository is
available via anoncvs, or I can supply a patch if it is
significantly affecting your current use of GNU Chess.

 regards,

 Simon
