I've tried several versions of gnu chess now, 5.00 (from
debian-unstable), 5.02 from ftp.gnu.org, and the current HEAD branch
from savannah. All three are severely broken with respect to
endianness.

There are many constants of the form "0x0234023402340234ULL" in the code
as well as a botched test for endianess in util.c.

I've fixed both of these, and it's still wonky, winning in one move with
a board with mostly pawns, etc.

Are there any plans to fix this problem?

jack.
