What's happening?

Hi, I'm a 74 year old widowed lady and live alone. I am having problems
with what a neighbor said to me that they may be a little flying bug
called gnats. They are really getting to me mentally. I have lived in my
ranch since it was built in 1961 and never have had any problems as I am
having now. I am not able to afford an exterminator to check out my
problem.They appear to be in their main home which is in the 2 drains in
my kitchen sink. They do fly and are in my living room ( there is an
opening between the kitchen and living room wall. ) They are on my table
lamp and in what letters are on this lamp table. I've seen them on the
top burners of my gas range also. I have many African violets on a
shelve above the kitchen sink. I also have many philodendron plants on
the shelve that separates the kitchen and living room. I have had many
plants all my life and in this home since 1961 with no problems with any
type of bugs. I take very good care of all my plants.They also appear in
my dogs water bowl. What can I use to get rid of these tiny bugs? Is
there some chemical that I can throw down the sink drains to kill them
all? Pleaseeeeee I need help desperately. Thank you, Mrs. CJ Campiola
