If you use an explicit /home/cflaw/tools/gmp-4.1.2/lib/libgmp.a you
might avoid any trouble with search paths for the -lgmp.

But was that the compiler you built gmp with?  And what is the system
you're building on?  The paths you show suggest solaris2.6, but your
problem sounds more like you're on solaris2.7 and have compiled gmp
with the Sun workshop cc in 64-bit mode.  You also haven't said what
your cpu is.  Presumably it's a sparc v9, but we ask for a full report
so we don't have to guess these things.
