gv (ghostview) Redraw Problem

When in gv and selecting a menu item from a pull down menu, the menu
leaves a blank spot where the menu was. On panning, the area panned
leaves a blank space.
The redraw seems to not happen. If I press redisplay it comes back. Also
when dragging another window over the gv displayed window, it blanks out
the area and dose not redraw. Any help would be appreciated

 This is on an RS/6000 AIX 4.3.3 on a Power PC.
