Follow-up Comment #7, bug #62659 (project gettext):
Ah, I think I see what's happening now.
If I build with the packaging/ebuild, which uses
--without-included-libunistring, it always fails.
If I build from source, and upgrade libunistring to 1.0 first, it's fine.
So, I guess the older copy of libunistring in the last gettext release exposes
the issue.
