The GDB in CVS as I write this crashes by doing the following sequence
of commands:
(gdb) show
[lots of output]
q <return>
(gdb) set height 0
(gdb) show
[some output, then crash]
This is on Red Hat v7.0 i386-SMP, fully updated.
