Hi.

Sounds strange, but also local to your system.  The full

        make distclean
        git pull
        ./bootstrap.sh && ./configure && make && make install

dies at 'make install'? Are you sure you have the right permissions
for the install?

You can use

        ./configure --prefix=/tmp

and see if make and make install works there.
