(btw since you didn't introduce yourself I initially thought you were
a Gnome user complaining about some older format, hence why I had
asked you to write the xml file ;))

I mentioned the install location issue because your 2 sample patches
use 'datadir' instead of 'datarootdir'.  Do you plan to update them?
