Follow-up Comment #2, bug #54236 (project findutils): I agree with the logic of the patch. I think this problem is important enough though that we should re-order the flow a bit, to make shell_escape_quoting_style) the default, and then override it only when we think that using no quoting is likely safe (e.g. because the output is a plain file or a pipe).
