It's not an erroneous result.
find is working perfectly, you have just misunderstood how your shell works.
It's expanding the wildcard that you gave on the command line. You should
protect the wildcard by quoting it - read the section in the findutils
documentation about "-name". You may also find it helpful to read a book
that explains the basics of using the Unix shell.
