As of locate version 4.1, if the output dir doesn't exist,
updatedb returns a confusing error that the database would be empty,
rather than specifying the output path is invalid.
Additionally, it would be helpful if
<http://www.gnu.org/software/findutils/findutils.html> contained this
bug address.
