I guess the 'z' command or its description need some changes. I'll check the POSIX standard, but suggestions are welcome.

If you give a number to 'z', it will use that number as default on subsequent calls. But you are right that there isn't a way of changing the default permanently. Again, I'll check the POSIX standard, but suggestions are welcome.
