Antonio,

I would be interested in seeing something like this. However, be warned... it could very possibly cause me to ask more questions and request more features LOL. But seriously, are YOU interested in the feedback that it could provide to help you see what is happening when someone has an interesting case. In some of the software that I am writing, I have some insane debug capability that would be very helpful to me (and has been in testing), but could make a very large debug file and the information is not for everyone to understand. So in the event that someone had an issue, I could ask them to run it with the debug option and send me the debug log. This patch for ddrescue is a little bit different as the information seems fairly clear, although I have not tried it myself. More information is always good, until it causes too many more questions (or takes up way too much space or time).

Thanks Alexander.

I've just wondered how you manage to debug this software without any debug printf or something like this.

It is easy. Ddrescue has no bugs. ;-)

But just in case, is anybody interested in this functionality or something similar?

Regards,
Antonio.
